Consumer Product Safety Commission Workshop

CSPA is pleased to announce the continuation of its professional development series with “The Consumer Product Safety Commission from A to Z…and Beyond.” To be held September 23-24, 2010, in Bethesda, Maryland, this day- and-a-half conference will provide participants with a thorough understanding of the regulations administered by the US Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC).

Commission Chairman Inez Tenenbaum has accepted the Association’s invitation to keynote the conference.

The first day, in addition to Chairman Tenenbaum’s address, will focus on basic laws and regulations while the second day will target international requirements and the future of the Commission.

This conference is aimed at individuals with varying degrees of familiarity or experience with the CPSC. With the passage of the Consumer Products Safety Improvement Act in 2008, there are several new and revised regulatory requirements affecting the consumer specialty products industry and this program will give you the opportunity to hear directly from Commission staff on how these requirements affect your business. The conference will also feature industry experts discussing and providing updates on international consumer products regulations such as the Global Harmonized System (GHS) of chemical classification and labeling and the Canadian Consumer Chemicals and Containers Regulation and will conclude with a panel discussion featuring former CPSC staff, consumer group representation, and staff from Capitol Hill.

Registration for “The Consumer Products Safety Commission from A to Z … and Beyond” is $400.00 for CSPA members and $500.00 for nonmembers. Convenient electronic registration and a preliminary conference program are available at http://www.cspa.org/public/events/cpsc.html. This conference, last held in 2003, is sure to be a sell-out. Register early to insure your place; you owe it to yourself and your company’s bottom line.

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Hyatt Regency Bethesda for conference registrants, with discounted rates of $219.00 single, $244.00 double, plus taxes. Make your reservations directly with the hotel at 301-657-1234 by the cutoff date of September 1, 2010, and be sure to mention CSPA to receive the group rate.
